Digging fun
The Ducklings have been using their gross motor skills to dig over and weed the flower beds and vegetable patch. They have been shown how to use the gardening tools safely and with care.

Rhyming - Odd one out
We have been playing spot the 'Odd One Out! The children have to say each of the words and listen out for the word that doesn't rhyme.

Ducklings PE
Today we had another lovely sunny day for our PE lesson. The children practised moving safely in different ways, stopping on demand and balancing on one foot.

Tasting different
Today we talked about foods and their different tastes - sweet, salty, bitter, spicy and sour. We tasted a number of different foods such as lemon, radish, onion, crisps, crackers, jelly sweets and dark chocolate. We had to decide which taste best described the foods.

This week the ducklings are practising counting out a given number of objects from a larger group. Alongside this they are learning to recognise the different numerals.

Great Big School Clean
The Ducklings have been taking part in this national initiative by helping to keep our school grounds clean. They loved using the special litter grabbers! Fortunately our school grounds are quite clean and there wasn't a great deal of litter to pick up.

Cutting skills
This week the Ducklings have been using their cutting skills to practise cutting up fruits and vegetables. This strengthens their hand and wrist muscles ready for writing.

Using a knife and fork
On our malleable table this week we have been rolling play dough sausages and then using our fine motor skills to practise cutting them with a knife and fork.
Practise using your knife and fork correctly at home too.

A visitor to Ducklings
On Friday we were very lucky to have a visit from Mr Kenyon who supports a little girl in Little Chicks that is deaf. Mr Kenyon is also deaf and he came to talk to us about being deaf, as we are learning about our senses and in particular hearing. He explained what being deaf means for different…
