Going crazy with numbers

Threading and Sewing
The children have been developing their fine motor skills through our whole school Dat topic of sewing. The children have been encouraged to thread using a large needle, select their own materials and sew the first letter of their name. We have spotted some natural sewing stars!

Drawing and painting self portraits
Over the past few weeks the children have been busy drawing and painting their self portraits. They have been looking at themselves closely in the mirror to include fine details in their drawings and consider colour. The results on our class display are wonderful!

Collecting leaves for tree decorations
As part of our mission to become an eco school, we have been collecting leaves ready to thread and decorate our beautiful trees with. We found some wonderful and very interesting leaves and has some lovely discussions about Their differences.

Subtraction super stars
In Maths this week we are continuing to learn about subtraction, focuses on how to count back from a number to find the answer. The children will continue to use practical resources to help them and will be given problems for them to practise their use of mathematical vocabulary.

Frog rescue
After finding a rather large frog in a bucket and realising it was stuck, the children got together and shared their idea on how we could rescue it. It was decided that we should carry it to the pond and gently ease it into the pond water. The children felt very proud watching the frog happily…
