We are learning about the sense of smell this week. We have harvested some herbs from our garden and have been using scissors to snip the herbs and make our own 'herb soup.' The children have enjoyed using their sense of smell to investigate each of the different herbs.

On our malleable table this week we have been rolling play dough sausages and then using our fine motor skills to practise cutting them with a knife and fork.

We have been using our fine motor skills to 'sew' the first letter of our names. We chose different materials and techniques.

We have been strengthening our finger muscles by weaving ribbons onto wire trays. This also helped us with our sewing.

This week we have been using threading and simple 'sewing' techniques. We practised threading ribbons over and under some wire racks to begin with. Next we have sewn ribbons, wool or thread through a template to make the first letter of our names.

The Ducklings have been using their funky fingers to create snowflakes out of sticks and marshmallows. They are quite fiddly, but have managed really well.
