Applying new language in open ended activities
When new language is introduced, we love to observe the children applying this language in their own play. After learning capacity words in Maths, here were some of the comments heard...

Capacity Crazy!
In Maths this week we are learning about capacity in lots of different ways. The children are learning and applying new language in a variety of different challenges and investigating the a capacity of different containers in their free play.

Spelling CCVC words
The Ducklings have been looking at how to segment and spell words that have two consonants at the start. The trickiest part is the second letter. Mrs Catterall kept making silly mistakes and the Ducklings helped to correct the spellings!!

This week we have been going crazy about 2D shapes. We have been sorting shapes due to their properties and finding 2D shapes on 3D shape faces. The children have made some amazing sea creatures from shapes too!

A visit from Nibby
Today the Ducklings were very lucky to have a visit from Rupert's dad Nibby who is an illustrator. He talked to them about his job and they had an opportunity to ask him questions too. The children then described an imaginary sea creature to Nibby who then drew it for them. They are going to love…
