Going to the Moon

I have been acting out the story 'Whatever Next'.

This is what I would take to the moon.

I have also been looking at the shape of the moon at night.

Astronauts

Little Chicks are immersed in the role play of Astronauts and role play going to space today they set off for the Monster planet. On the rocket is information on the planets and facts.

Next week we will be begin looking at the planets see if you can research the planets.

Ice

Little Chicks explored ice in the garden we found solid ice in the tray. We discussed how water turns to ice and why? How it then turns back to water.

Little Chicks suggested that hot water would melt the ice.

Story Whatever Next ?

As part of our topic on Space the children have listened to the story Whatever Next ?

Little Chicks were asked to recall what happened in the story.

Snow!

There was great excitement this afternoon when it started to snow. We went outside and some children tried to catch the snow in their mouths. It is a shame it wasn't sticking!!!!

Warning, warning, alert there has been a crash landing in Little Chicks today what could it be?

Little Chicks brainstormed the evidence.

Appears we have Little Chicks searching the Solar system.

Learning begins about Space.

Super numbers and writing!

I would take fruit and my bed to the moon. I have drawn a picture and traced over the letters.

I have been writing the numbers to 10.

We have been counting moon rocks and then matching the numeral to the quantity. We had to make sure we gave each moon rock a number and not rush ahead. Some recognised all the numbers 1-10 out of sequence.

Investigating frost and ice

The children really enjoyed investigating the frost and ice this morning. During their investigation they used words such as melting, cold, smooth, hard, freezing and glass to describe what they could see and feel.
