Day and Night
As part of our What can we see? topic, we have been learning about day and night. The children have made pictures, used models and even made videos to explain how we get our day and our night. We read a lovely story by Oliver Jeffers called How to Catch a Star. It was all about a little boy who wanted his very own star. The children then found lots of different ways to create their very own stars using different materials and tools. Some children used card and paper. Grayson used natural materials found at the park. Josh baked his stars and could eat them afterwards!! Yummy! This was also great because he put his money skills form our maths learning into practise, as he went to the shop and paid for the ingredients. The Ducklings have also read some different stories about nocturnal and diurnal animals such as Night Monkey, Day Monkey by Julia Donaldson. They were then able to sort different animals according to whether they they are awake or asleep during the day or night.
Who do we love?
In preparation for Valentine's day we read some stories about love and thought about who we love and who loves us. Some of the Ducklings made some lovely Valentine's cards for the people they love and wrote beautiful messages inside.
Creating a planet
The Ducklings have been busy today creating their own planets. They had to think of a name for their planet and describe what it might like. They have come up with some really imaginative ideas including a planet made of lava and one of jelly!
Funky fingers exercising
Exercising our smaller muscles like the ones in our fingers and wrists are just as important as exercising our larger muscles. It really helps us with our writing.
