Where the Wild Things Are
Our new topic is ‘Out of This World’ and we started our new topic by reading the book ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. In the story Max puts on a wolf costume and gets sent to bed for causing mischief. In a dream he goes on a journey to the ‘Wild Place’, where he becomes king of the wild things.
This morning we created our own ‘wild thing’, with the children deciding on the shape, colour and features of our ‘wild thing’.
In P.E we explored how a ‘wild thing’ might move and this afternoon we went out to explore a ‘wild place’!
We went out of the back gate and over to the trees. We found daffodils, daisies, iris, snowdrops and crocus growing. We also found a hole where there was a hedgehog hibernating.
The children also used musical instruments to create the sounds of a ‘wild thing’.
We were all very good at using our eyes and not our hands to explore as there were nettles starting to grow and some brambles which could sting or hurt us.
