Image of Visiting Lambs

This morning we had some really cute visitors.

Mrs Richardson very kindly arranged for her sister and Grandad to bring in two lambs from their farm.

Mrs Richardson told us that these two lambs are one week old and were each taken from their mum's as they had had twins and were first time mum's.

They are bottle fed every four hours during the day and will be fully weened by the beginning of June.

Each lamb has a number on its side, these are lamb number 10 and 11. These numbers match with a number on the mum so that they know which lambs belong to which sheep. They also show that these were the 10th and 11th lambs born on the farm.

The red mark on the lambs shoulder is the farmer's mark, so if the lamb gets into another farmer's field they will know which farm it has come from.

Each lamb has a rubber band on it, this will cause the end of the tail to drop off to create a shorter tail which will help to keep the lamb clean and prevent flies from laying eggs on them.

Everyone who wanted to was able to stroke the lambs and we made sure we washed our hands really well afterwards.
