Image of School Nurse Visit

Today our School Nurse came into class to talk to us about keeping claen and staying healthy. The ducklings sat really nicely and listenend very carefully. They had lots of great ideas already about keeping healthy and staying clean. I'm sure they told you all about it and hopefully you've all had chance to look at the sheets she sent home and talk about what they learned.

She talked to us about; keeping our hair free of head lice by using shampoo AND conditioner and keeping our hair tied back if it's long, having a shower or bath to keep our bodies clean and about how we should be brushing our teeth TWICe a a day and making regular trips to the dentist to make sure our teeth stay healthy and how to make sure we don't spread tummy bugs by stayng at home for $* hours after the last incident so we don't bring it in to school.

The most important thing we can do is to make sure we wash our hands regularly. The nurse showed us a picture iof what germs like and explained how they are everywhere and that we can't see them except through a microscope. We listenend to a story about keeping our hands clean and a poem about all the different times we use our hands. We also had some great ideas ourselves!

We talked about when were the most important times to wash our hands; before EVERY meal, after we've visited the toilet, before eating our snack, after we've been outside, before we go to bed and when we get up.To demonstrate how germs are on our hands Holly, Christopher, Luke and Alice covered their hands in green paint and showed the class how dirty they were. Then they went and used the hand washing technique to get rid of all the "germs". It was really difficult!

Here are the six steps we used;

Help us ensure that we all stay fit and healthy, especially at this time when the norovirus and flu are so prevelant and have a look at the pictures of our talk here.

Have fun keeping clean at home!
