A Visit from a Midwife
This morning Mrs Troughton came in to talk to us about her job as a midwife. She showed us some of the equipment and clothing she wears, dressing us up in the apron and gloves she would wear to deliver a baby.
She also showed us how a ‘doppler’ works. A doppler listens to the baby’s heartbeat through the mummy’s tummy to make sure the baby is growing.
She also uses a tape measure to measure the mummy’s tummy, which gets bigger as the baby grows.
Once the baby is born she will put a clamp on the tube which gives the baby food when it’s in their mummy’s tummy. This then forms our tummy button.
Mrs Troughton then read us a lovely story called ‘A House Inside My Mummy’.
Thank you for visiting us Mrs Troughton.
