On 24th November, the children in Herons wrote a new Katie Morag story as part of their Big Write.
They had recieved an email from the author asking for their help:
Dear Herons,
I need your help! I know you have been reading my stories and I was wondering if you could help me create a new Katie Morag story?
I would love your plans and story ideas to help me create a new adventure for Katie Morag.

My title was Katie Morag and the Disco. Katie Morag was asked to put the sweets and the chocolate in the correct slots but she does the opposite. I enjoyed using my imagination to come up with super ideas.

My Katie Morag story is called Katie Morag and The Ballet Slippers. Katie Morag went to the shop and she saw some beautiful ballet slippers for Granny Mainlad's birthday. Katie dropped them in the bin by accident. She got them out but they were dirty. Katie had to add sparkle and flowers to make them bright and beautiful again ready for Granny Mainland's party. But did she do it in time? I loved writing a new Katie Morag story and thinking up new ideas, it was amazing! I love Mairi Hedderwicks stories about Katie Morag.

My story was called Katie Morag and The Pink Wedding Dress. Katie Morag was distracted with the wedding food and while she wasn’t looking, baby Liam pulled the dress and it was a mess when Katie turned around. She was shocked but luckily Granny Island helped Katie make a new dress for Neily Beag and Granma Mainlands wedding. I enjoyed writing the middle of the story.

I called my new story Katie Morag and the new ballet class. Baby Liam ripped the ballet clothes and shoes! So Katie and Grandma Mainland went to buy some new ones before her next lesson. It was such a rush! I liked the title and practising my writing.

The name of my new Katie Morag story was Katie Morag and the Wedding Dress. In my story first they went to get a wedding dress for Granny Mainland. Afterwards they went home to show the rest of the family. The family loved the dress. I liked thinking of the story and writing it down.

Katie morag looked out the post office window and sneaked out the door .
There was a helicopter in the field .
Katie morag sneaked into the helicopter
The pilot saw Katie and told her to leave .
The pilot took off leaving his co pilot behind .
I like the middle because Katie got inside the helicopter.

My Katie Morag story was called Katie Morag and the wedding cake. Mrs Mc Coll baked the wedding cake for Neily Beag and Grandma Mainland. Katie Morag was asked to look after the wedding cake. Katie got distracted by the beautiful wedding dress.Baby Liam saw the wedding cake reached up and tugged on the table cloth which made the cake fall onto the floor. Baby Liam was covered in white and pink iceing. Katie Morag took the cake to her mum to see if she could fix it before the wedding. Will the cake get done in time for the wedding? I liked thinking about the story i was making and picturing what happened.

My Katie Morag story was called The Ballet Class. Katie Morag spotted a Dance class and she wanted to go to it for some lessons.Grandma Mainland made a costume but baby Liam had just ripped Katie Morag’s dress. Could she fix it in time? Yes she could.
I enjoyed thinking about a good title.
