Parrots Week 2
Another busy week in Parrot’s class with lots of learning taking place! The children have settled in really well; it is such a huge step up from Reception to Year 1 so I would like to say a big well done boys and girls for showing some great resilience to all the change!
This week we have started to look at the Great Fire of London and we read the story VLAD. The children really enjoyed retelling this story and drawing comic strips linked to the narrative. We have enjoyed learning about the countries in the United Kingdom and plotting London; Mrs Davis even drew a map of the UK outside on the playground and we had to run to the places! We baked bread on Monday and it was so much fun eating it in the afternoon whilst we watched a short clip about Samuel Pepys and how the fire started in a bakery on Pudding Lane.
Finally, we ended the week doing some outdoor Science; finding materials and discussing their properties. Well done to Jack McGreevy, our star of the week! Another big well done to those children who have earnt, team points, table points and Carleton codes! Please do send in any achievements from home as we will always try to look at them.
Mrs Hicks had fun with her outdoor learning; please check the class page for a timetable as to when your child will be doing their session.
