The Vikings are arriving!

Last week, Hawks launched their new topic of the Vikings!

We saw the front of a longboat in the foyer of school and the outline of a longboat upstairs in the corridor.

We started off the day by finding out all about Viking longboats. In pairs, we then followed instructions to make a paper longboat. The pairs worked well together to persevere to create their longboat.

What do you now know about Viking longboats? What did you like about making the longboats?

I that a Viking longboat has 24 to 50 oars on it . I also know that the prow of a Viking longboat is elaborately carved I enjoyed cutting the the details out .

A Viking longboat can fit up to 60 people! :)

The vikings placed their shields in the oar holes so they could protect 25-60 people. I enjoyed working together in pairs because you help each other and on person will do one thing and the other person will do another.
