18 April 2016

Robin Turner in Year 6 was awarded with the Science Award. This is his account of the day:

On Thursday 12th April 2016, I won the Key Stage 2 Scientist of the Year Award.

Firstly, my two sisters needed taking care of. so for the first time ever my Mum and Dad called a babysitter to look after them.

My parents and I drove to Blackpool Sixth Form, unaware of what the award ceremony would be like. When we arrived, we had refreshments and met up with Mrs Walsh, our Science Co-ordinator at school. We then went to the Lecture Theatre to get my award.

I wasn't quite sure what would happen and it wasn't just me getting the award because there were lots of people from different schools, high schools and even universities. However, I was the first to get the award and felt really nervous. I got a trophy and certificate then everyone else was announced.

After that there was a show about the history of electricity, which I found truly amazing. This was a truly exciting experience for my family and I. I feel very proud to have been awarded Scientist of the Year.
