Finding a Present - a poem by Summer Holroyd
It was the week before Christmas,
what could I do?
A few days to go
and no present for you.
I searched high and low,
for a present just right.
I looked everywhere,
there was nothing in sight.
I finally found it.
I gave it a shout.
My arms had dropped off,
and my eyes had popped out.
I was looking so hard,
I was dripping with sweat.
But there was the present,
a new tiny pet.
I wrapped it with glee,
with a bow for effect.
A cute little hamster,
so small and perfect.
With his scratchy new claws,
and his tiny wet nose,
he'd get in position
and give me a pose.
My gift was for Nana,
to stop her watching telly.
She could bore him with stories,
whilst tickling his belly.
Fantastic Summer, you are clearly a life long learner! Well done for choosing this as a home activity.
