~~Spring term (2)

We have a particularly exciting topic this half term……..

This topic follows on nicely from our previous Jungle topic.
We will be looking at different types of explorers and linking our learning across the curriculum.

~~Week Commencing 23/3/15

A warm welcome back to all our Heron children and their families, we hope you have had a fantastic half term holiday.

This is what I am learning this week:

English: For the next three weeks we will be focusing on non chronological reports based on our topic of “Explorers”. This week we will begin writing our very own Explorers information books. We hope they will be complete and ready to show you at parents evening.

Maths:  This week we are looking at fractions and position and direction. We are hoping the weather allows us to take our learning outside for some of these lessons so please ensure your child has warm waterproof coat in school each day.

Topic:
This terms topic is explorers! We are very excited about this new topic and are hoping to provide the children with lots of opportunities for cross curricular learning. Our main focuses will be on Captain Cook, Neil Armstrong, Jacques Cousteau and Robert Falcon Scott. If you have any relevant books or information on these explorers or any others of interest please send them in.

This week’s red hot writers are ….. Thomas and Annie for their fabulous descriptions of their 3d, recycled monsters! Well done! Pop in to see their work on display on the writing wall!

P.E is on Monday and Tuesday.
This term we are very lucky to have a gymnastic specialist coming in on Mondays to teach us some new gymnastic skills. Watch the blog for weekly pictures!
Please ensure your child has a full school P.E kit in school and earrings are removed or covered. Children will not be permitted to take part in P.E without the correct kit and earrings removed or covered.

Kind regards
Mrs N Cassidy  Mrs N Jones
