During Maths, the children in Doves were able to get to grips with fractions by exploring fractions with different quantities of classroom resources. The children were able to move the resources practically and divide the number of resources by the denominator within the fraction they were seeking to find. This enabled the children to make the connection between fractions and division by seeing the real-life objects being separated and then counting how many resources there were within each equal part. At the end of the lesson we were able to understand that in circumstances where the denominator is bigger the actual fraction is smaller, for example a quarter 1/4 is smaller than a 1/2. Well done Doves.

Zara showed me some of the things she had been learning. It looks like the whole class had fun.
